Indoor Activities for a Rainy Day in the Bay of Quinte

RAIN HAPPENS.

DON'T LET IT DAMPEN YOUR DAY

We’ve got you covered—literally, with these indoor activities. Strike up some fun at the bowling alley, crack the code in an escape room, or take aim with axe throwing. For something more low-key, kick back with a spa day, flip through your next favourite read at a bookstore, or hit the mall for some retail therapy. Rainy days don’t stand a chance here.

BOWLING

You can’t go wrong with a classic favourite: bowling! With retro vibes, snack bars and a little healthy competition, it’s a guaranteed way to keep everyone entertained. Night owls can also enjoy rock and bowl or laser bowling on weekends.

AXE THROWING

Channel your inner lumberjack and hurl an axe at a wooden target. Axe throwing is a thrilling way to break up a rainy day while testing your aim and precision, plus it’s easy to learn and fun to master.

CATCH A FILM

Catch the latest blockbuster movies or check out the Empire Theatre to see what films the Quinte Film Alternative is presenting. Don’t forget the popcorn!

SPA DAY

A little pampering goes a long way—perfect for escaping the rainy-day blues. Be sure to call ahead to book your spot and treat yourself to the ultimate ‘me time.’ Rainy days are basically an invitation to relax.

VISIT A MUSEUM

Learn about local history, Canada’s Air Force or the wonders of the natural world. Many of the museums also have hands-on activities available for younger children.

PRACTICE YOUR SWING

No matter the weather, you can still get in for a round of golf at one of the indoor golf simulators. You will need to bring your own clubs with you as rentals are not available.

SHORELINES CASINO

The only casino between Peterborough and Gananoque. Shorelines Casino Belleville offers slot machines, live and electronic table games, high limit areas and a buffet with a fully licensed bar.

QUINTE MALL

The Quinte Mall in Belleville has over 125 stores and services, a food court and restaurants. Shop from popular brand names to outfit the whole family and make sure to pop into K’boodle, an artisan store with locally-made products.

INDOOR CLIMBING

The Boiler Room is a bouldering gym with over 5,000 square feet of climbing space and tons of boulder problems (aka routes or sequences of moves). Bouldering is rock climbing stripped down to its bare essentials—that means no ropes and harnesses.  Climbing shoes and chalk bags are available for rent, so you’ll be fully geared up even if it’s your first time.

ESCAPE ROOMS

Escape Rooms are a fun way to test out your puzzle-solving skills and see how well your group really gets along under the pressure of a ticking clock. Each location listed below has multiple different themes to choose from.

LIVE THEATRE

Our region is home to some incredibly talented folks who make live theatre come to life here. Check out the local theatre groups to see what’s coming up and catch a performance.

FIND YOUR NEXT READ

We’re lucky to have two independent bookstores in the BoQ that help keep our bookshelves stocked—especially when we’re trying to cut down on our screen time a bit. Is there a better combo than cozying up with a good book on a rainy day?

STRIKE A POSE

New in downtown Belleville, Lavish Studio Creations is a selfie studio that provides a unique array of elegant and fun photography sets for families, friends, models, cosplayers, influencers, and photographers to shoot with multiple ever-changing photography sets. Book online through their website at the link below.

RAGE ROOMS

The Shatter House in downtown Belleville is the region’s only rage room where you can smash things like dishes, glassware or appliances with bats, crowbars and hammers. For something a little quieter, they offer a paint rage where you can create your own splatter art by throwing paint, using water guns or water balloons.

WHO'S HUNGRY?

Dine at one-of-a-kind local restaurants, grab a quick bite on the go, satisfy your sweet tooth, or sip your way through a local beer or wine tasting. Our interactive map makes it easy to find the best food and drink options across the region.
