BAY OF QUINTE SHOPPING GUIDE

A Day of Shopping in Greater Napanee

Greater Napanee makes a good shopping day because you don’t need a mall-sized itinerary to find interesting things. Downtown, historic buildings line Dundas Street and the surrounding blocks, with independent shops offering everything from specialty coffee and home décor to fashion, flowers, pet treats and locally made goods.

The fun is in the wandering. Start with coffee, see what catches your eye, stop for lunch and leave a little room in the car for something you didn’t plan to buy.

The best part? So many great shops, all within a few blocks!

The shop also carries coffee beans, brewing gear, tea and other thoughtful finds, so you can take a little of the experience home with you.

Bring Something Beautiful Home

Shop the Boutiques

Napanee’s downtown is home to independent clothing and lifestyle boutiques where you’ll find fashion, footwear, accessories and one-of-a-kind pieces without the big-box shopping experience.

Need a Caffeine Boost?

Downtown Napanee is compact, but there’s enough to see that you may need another coffee before you’re done. Take a break, recharge and then get back to the shopping.

Coffee Cravings

Take a break and grab a latte, cappuccino, tea or something sweet at this cozy downtown café. Coffee Cravings is housed in a former bank building, with historic details that make it a little more interesting than your average coffee stop.

Find Something You Didn't Know You Needed

Some of the best shopping stops aren’t the ones you go looking for. They’re the ones you stumble across and immediately wonder how you lived without.

A store display of eco products

La Senda Eco Store

La Senda is a small eco-focused shop with practical, low-waste and thoughtfully chosen products for everyday life. Browse for something useful, something giftable or a better version of something you already use.

Good for: Eco-friendly products, home and lifestyle, personal care and gifts

Image of refillery bottles

Lake & Forest Collective

Part refillery, part artisan shop, Lake & Forest Collective combines refillable household products with Canadian-made and locally crafted goods. It’s a particularly good stop when you’re looking for something useful, sustainable or just a little different.

Good for: Refills, low-waste living, local makers and thoughtful gifts

Harvest Brinery

Tucked just off the main shopping street, Harvest Brinery is the kind of place you might walk past if you weren’t looking for it. Pick up handmade pickles, preserves, chutneys and other small-batch food products made with local ingredients where possible.

Good for: Pickles, preserves, local food and edible gifts

Find Something Delicious

Shopping works up an appetite. Luckily, Napanee has plenty of places where you can turn lunch or a snack into part of the shopping trip.

Ellena's Café & Pantry

Ellena’s combines a café with a pantry and home-goods shop, so you can stop for lunch or coffee and still have plenty to browse. Look for baked goods, sandwiches, soups, pantry items, kitchenware and other useful—or simply nice-to-have—finds.

Good for: Lunch, coffee, baked goods (like the cruffin pictured here), pantry finds and kitchen goods

Image of the donut counter in a bakery

The Bakery and Bistro Spot

A downtown bakery with a European touch, The Bakery and Bistro Spot is a good place to pick up something sweet, a fresh loaf of bread or a quick lunch. Look for donuts, croissants, squares, butter tarts and other baked goods, along with sandwiches and soups from the bistro.

Good for: Baked goods, bread, pastries, lunch and something sweet to take home

Image of cheese in a cheese shop display

Market Simeon

Market Simeon is part deli, part specialty food shop and a very good reason to rethink your lunch plans. Pick up a made-to-order sandwich, browse European and specialty food products, or take home prepared foods, cheeses, meats, soups and other things for later.

Good for: Lunch, specialty foods, cheese, deli finds, prepared meals and take-home treats

Lennox & Addington Chamber Market Saturdays

Old Town Hall Parking Area
(Centre Street & Market Square, Downtown Napanee)

If you’re visiting on a Saturday between late spring and early fall, add Market Square to your shopping route. The Lennox & Addington Chamber Market brings local farmers, bakers and makers together downtown, with fresh produce, baked goods, preserves, honey, maple syrup, handmade goods and more. Vendors change from week to week, so there’s usually something new to discover.

DON'T FORGET THE DOG!

Shopping day doesn’t have to mean leaving the dog out. The Barkery carries specialty treats, toys, supplements and pet products, along with grooming services by appointment.

The Barkery Grooming & Dog Shoppe

Don’t leave the dog out of the shopping trip. The Barkery carries premium pet products, treats, toys and grooming supplies, so there’s plenty to browse for the four-legged member of the family.

Good for: Dog treats, toys, pet supplies and gifts for dog lovers

Make an Entire Day of It

The shopping is only part of the appeal. Once you’ve worked your way through downtown and the surrounding shops, stop for lunch or dinner at The Waterfront River Pub right on the Napanee River. In the winter you can dine in their outdoor snow globes.

Greater Napanee’s location makes it easy to combine a few hours of shopping with a walk at Springside Park along  falls for a little time outdoors.

Because sometimes the best shopping day is the one that doesn’t feel like a shopping day at all.
