Hit the Slopes at Batawa Ski Hill

Hit the Slopes at Batawa Ski Hill

Just a short 7-minute drive from Highway 401 in Quinte West lies Batawa Ski Hill, where you can enjoy day and night skiing on 12 runs plus an expanded terrain park opening this season. Endearingly coined the ‘small hill with big heart,’ it’s a year-round outdoor haven in the Bay of Quinte. When the weather is warmer, their property is home to the only mountain biking trails in our region.

LOVE AT FROST SIGHT

Batawa Ski Hill caters to skiers and snowboarders of all levels with a mix of slopes from the bunny hill to double black diamonds. Ski, snowboard, sit ski, and outrigger rentals are available if you don’t have your own gear. They also offer lessons for “first timers,” groups, private lessons, and adaptive skiing lessons. If hitting the slopes isn’t your style, you can rent snowshoes to explore the trails.

FEEL RIGHT AT HOME

This was my first time skiing at Batawa and from the second I walked up to the chalet I felt like I was returning to an old friend’s house. Every single person at the hill was friendly, from the chair lift operator who asked me each run how it felt to be back on the skis, to the 7-year-old I rode the chair lift with who told me all about how her and her brothers learned to ski here. Being here makes you feel like a member of a private ski club.

APRÈS SKI

It was an overcast day but just as the sun was setting it peeked through the clouds in the west to grace me with a beautiful sunset. A perfect end to my day of skiing was only made better by the après. I grabbed the classic poutine and a hot cocoa at the chalet after my ski and couldn’t miss the opportunity to hang out near the outdoor firepits. With music filling the air, the smokey smell of the campfire and a great view of people flying down the hill, it’s the perfect spot to warm the fingers and soul on even the coldest of days! Insider Tip: Bring some marshmallows to roast and enjoy on their own or top off your hot cocoa. The chalet’s hot cocoa and the atmosphere get an A+ in my books.
