Hosted by the Loyalist College Summer Arts Program 2019. Painting outdoors allows us to see and feel what we sometimes miss. Working in either watercolour or acrylics on paper and canvas, we will plan compositions, choosing the “big picture” or the “zoom in” approach. While painting, we will be aware of time and of the serendipity of the weird and wonderful occurrences that are part of the magic of painting en plein air. Instruction will focus on quick set-up techniques, minimizing materials, selecting a spot for shadow, colour, light or view, and on the value of sketching. We will experiment with wet-in-wet techniques to achieve a loose and lively effect.
July 15 – 19th, from 9 am to 4 pm.
Level: Beginners and beyond.
