Join us March 24th for dinner or drinks anytime between 8PM-10PM to enjoy to musician Robert Keyes.
Fingerstyle guitarist Robert Keyes approaches the guitar in the same manner an arranger would approach writing for a small combo. By combining harmonic, melodic, rhythmic and tonal elements, he crafts unique variations of familiar tunes. There’s a lot of stuff going on at once! In 2013, after a 12-year residency at the storied Tides Inn in Irvington, Va., he settled in Prince Edward County. With over 40 years of playing experience as a solo artist, Robert is also quite comfortable in any group setting. As a guitarist, he has backed both Lyle Lovett and Sir John McVie, co-founder of Fleetwood Mac and in Canada, Holly Cole, Hagood Hardy, Ronnie Hawkins and Guido Basso. Robert loves playing music that has managed to stand the test of time. When it comes to guitar influences, Joe Pass, Lenny Breau, Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton are favourites.
One question he gets often is, “Do you ever sing?” His reply is always, “Yes, but my guitar is my voice!”
