THE DISCOVERY GUIDE 8TH EDITION IS HERE!
NOTICE OF APOLOGY AND CORRECTION
The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board wishes to apologize for our actions with respect to the feature we published in the 8th Edition of our Bay of Quinte Discovery Guide authored by Brandi Akey. The story, about visiting the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, included content that was added without the knowledge or consent of the author. Specifically, the sentence on page 14, column one, starting on line six published as “If you’re not into fishing and prefer more land-based activities, a visit to Christ Church and learning about Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal of the Mohawks is itself a lesson in history” was added by a member of our staff and not written by Brandi herself. We have removed this sentence from the digital version of this publication and are making the correction known publicly through this statement and on the discovery guide landing page at bayofquinte.ca/discoveryguide. We frequently make additions and edits to content pieces of any type. Our standard review procedure includes the review and approval of any such changes to an author’s work by the author before publication. Unfortunately, there was a breakdown to that process during the finalization of this Discovery Guide. We have reviewed our internal practices and are implementing improved accountability procedures into our review that will ensure similar situations never happen again. We have been in communication with Brandi and would like to again apologize to her for our error and the harm it has caused.
