Doctor Oronhyatekha — A Mohawk of National Historic Significance

THE EARLY YEARS Oronhyatekha (Burning Sky) was born on August 10, 1841, on the banks of the Grand River, the territory of the Six Nations people, near what is now known as Brantford, Ontario. His father was Peter Martin Sr. of the Six Nations and his other was Lydia Loft of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
