OH SNAP!

A PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST FOR STUDENTS 7-18

2024 WINNERS

Throughout the month of June, youth ages 7-18 were invited to submit photos taken of people, places or things during the last year within the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board’s partner communities of Belleville, Brighton, Greater Napanee, the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and Quinte West. The contest’s purpose was to encourage artistic development, experimentation and expression among youth and to see how they perceive the world around us, which is often a much different perspective than adults. We were absolutely blown away by the entries—there are some seriously talented youth living in the BoQ!

Hannah H.

“I took this photo simply because I love the moon. I love it. The pine tree next to it perfectly helps to appeal to the viewer’s eye. This is the type of picture that I would paint, frame on my wall and display everywhere. I am submitting this photo for this reason. I think it is a very nice shot.”

Sameh S.

Runner-Up, 15-18 Age Category

“Even with lights on, you can never see it coming.”

Rianna H.

Runner-Up, 15-18 Age Category

“Feather letter left by the goose – This picture was taken at the Trent Port Marina. After I saw the messenger of spring, I found the goose left a feather on the ground to tell people that spring is coming, because the goose is coming back to Canada at the end of March, and that is when the spring begins. The green extends into the body and mind like a pulse, the spring breeze floats, and seeing the letter left by the goose is very warm.”

“The months of September and June are the sailing months at Rcscc Quinte. It captures the essence of sailing as if you were truly on the boat. This is our former Commander Officer Lt(N) Robert Wisniewski’s boat “Knot On Call.” This boat is a core part of Rcscc Quinte and holds so many fun memories. The reason why I submitted this picture is because it reminds me of the time when we all convinced Lt(N) Wisniewski to jump off his boat into the water. This photo makes me smile when I look at it because it holds such a beautiful moment in my heart, some of my best memories have been on this boat.”

“This photo was just taken for fun. My friends asked me to do a photoshoot for them and I picked a bunch of different areas for us to shoot. For me, the stairs at the front of our school were perfect for their aesthetic that day.”
