Greater Napanee is where small-town Ontario still feels like small-town Ontario.

It’s the kind of place where people actually use their public spaces, show up to local events, and care about what happens in their town. It’s not trying to be a tourist destination or reinvent itself as something trendy. It’s a real, functional Ontario town with a river running through it, heritage all around, endless parks and recreation, and the genuine community spirit that makes these places worth visiting in the first place.

Sitting just 30 minutes west of Kingston and about 2.5 hours east of Toronto, it’s an easy drive if you’re looking for a quick getaway or a scenic layover on your way through to Ottawa or Montreal. Close enough to reach on a whim, far enough to feel like you’ve actually left the city behind. Take the scenic route through Prince Edward County and cross on the Glenora Ferry for the kind of drive that becomes part of the trip itself. Or skip the highway altogether and arrive by train, watching the landscape roll by from the stress free comfort of your seat.
