An interview with Jordan Preisinger of Limitless Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Describe your business.
We (my wife and I) offer modern martial arts classes for kids and adults: Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
What brought you to the region?
We lived in Trenton our entire childhoods but spent a couple years after college in Ottawa. We moved back to where we felt most comfortable.
What makes the Bay of Quinte a good fit for your business?
The Bay of Quinte region is filled with passionate, caring people so our classes are large and achieve great success—we rival big-city gyms in competition results.
What was the hardest thing about starting?
The stress from the unknown and all the little mistakes you make along the way.
What advice do you have for entrepreneurs?
Start small before you expand.
What surprised you about starting a business here?
Nothing really. If you have a good product, the people will come.
Describe your perfect day off.
I love what I do, so taking a day off is usually something I have to force myself to do. I can’t think of doing anything else.
What’s your secret to surviving winter?
Although I love Canada, I wonder all the time why I live here. So to survive winter, I keep busy and tan regularly.
If you were to tattoo one word on your body what would it be?
The right half of my body is covered in tattoos, so space is limited, but the word family is significant.
