An interview with Shan Khan of Structural Stamina in Belleville.
Briefly describe your business.
Structural Stamina is an easy-to-use platform, built to inspire a holistic approach to health and promote an active lifestyle. We offer services related to yoga, fitness, nutrition and self-defense.
What brought you to the region?
I attended Loyalist College.
What makes the Bay of Quinte a good fit for your business?
Structural Stamina is primarily run online, but I enjoy the Bay of Quinte as a place to live. Beautiful area, great people and there’s more going on than you’d think.
What was the hardest thing about starting a business?
Being unsure of how to make it all happen. In order to do something you’ve never done, you must become someone you’ve never been. Be willing to keep learning.
What advice do you have for entrepreneurs in the area?
We’re living in times where people lack a sense of community. We entrepreneurs should collaborate more with one another, bring our projects, ideas, products and services together to better serve our community.
How have you changed your operations during the pandemic?
Learning to take everything online. Pre-pandemic all my teaching and instructing was done in person and now I utilize video conferencing software like Zoom. The pandemic has been the catalyst for bringing Structural Stamina to be.
What is something good that has come from this difficult situation (the pandemic)?
I think we’ve all had the opportunity to slow down, reflect and put more time into connecting to those close to us.
If you were to have one word tattooed on you, what would it be?
