DESCRIPTION:EARLY SUMMER SHOW – GALLERY 121 – JUNE 2nd– JULY 11th \nRECEPTION – JUNE 6th\, 2026 \nThe members of Gallery 121 are pleased to present their Early Summer Show\, showcasing Guest Artists Emóke Wilson\, Michael Amar and Featured Member Artist Cara Wilson. \nCara is a multi-dimensional artist\, whose primary medium is acrylic augmented with textural media and found objects. During her years as an international designer Cara absorbed a wide range of style influences and since retiring has embraced mixed media and is a creator of inspired landscape work. Cara has supported her development through local association memberships\, and her paintings have been exhibited widely in the region. \nEmóke Wilson claims that art has been her best friend since childhood. Today she is also a Mixed-Media Artist\, creating expressionistic\, exclusive one-of-a-kind 2D and 3D works that are captured in unconventional works using bold colours\, patterns and textures. \nMichael Amar is a well-known artist in the Hastings and Kingston areas where he has presented both solo and group shows\, including at the Parrott Gallery. Michael is a master of many mediums including\, but not limited to oil\, sculpting\, wood\, copper\, and inks.

SUMMARY:Cottagers and Indians by Drew Hayden Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Cottagers and Indians explores the politics and issues surrounding a real-life event still occurring in the Kawartha Lakes region of Central Ontario. An Indigenous man\, Arthur Copper\, has taken it upon himself to repopulate the nearby lakes with wild rice\, known amongst the Anishnawbe as Manoomin\, much to the disapproval of the local non-Indigenous cottagers\, Maureen Poole in particular. She feels the plant interferes with boating\, fishing\, swimming\, and is generally an eyesore that brings down the property values of her cottage and those of her neighbors. Drew Hayden Taylor’s thirty-second play is a powerful dramatization of contemporary confrontations taking place between environmentalism and consumerism\, Indigenous and non-Indigenous sensibilities.

During her years as an international designer Cara absorbed a wide range of style influences and since retiring has embraced mixed media and is a creator of inspired landscape work. Cara has supported her development through local association memberships\, and her paintings have been exhibited widely in the region. \nEmóke Wilson claims that art has been her best friend since childhood. Today she is also a Mixed-Media Artist\, creating expressionistic\, exclusive one-of-a-kind 2D and 3D works that are captured in unconventional works using bold colours\, patterns and textures. \nMichael Amar is a well-known artist in the Hastings and Kingston areas where he has presented both solo and group shows\, including at the Parrott Gallery. Michael is a master of many mediums including\, but not limited to oil\, sculpting\, wood\, copper\, and inks.

SUMMARY:Cottagers and Indians by Drew Hayden Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Cottagers and Indians explores the politics and issues surrounding a real-life event still occurring in the Kawartha Lakes region of Central Ontario. An Indigenous man\, Arthur Copper\, has taken it upon himself to repopulate the nearby lakes with wild rice\, known amongst the Anishnawbe as Manoomin\, much to the disapproval of the local non-Indigenous cottagers\, Maureen Poole in particular. She feels the plant interferes with boating\, fishing\, swimming\, and is generally an eyesore that brings down the property values of her cottage and those of her neighbors. Drew Hayden Taylor’s thirty-second play is a powerful dramatization of contemporary confrontations taking place between environmentalism and consumerism\, Indigenous and non-Indigenous sensibilities.

DESCRIPTION:Rainbow: Belonging\, Intergenerational Art Installation \nExhibition runs from June 5th – June 25th.\nLocated at the QAC Cultural Hub. \nThe Quinte Arts Council in collaboration with Bay of Quinte PRIDE invites artists and community members of all ages to visit this special exhibition celebrating the theme of Belonging. \nThis unique installation highlights intergenerational voices\, bringing together perspectives from youth\, adults\, and seniors to explore what belonging means within 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and beyond. Works explore identity\, connection\, acceptance\, community\, resilience\, or personal experiences of belonging. \nThe exhibition includes pieces in a wide range of mediums\, including: \nPainting\, drawing\, mixed media\, quilts\, poetry\, and digital painting. \nBelonging has a strong intergenerational focus\, shared perspectives from different life stages. Whether they are emerging\, established\, or simply curious to share their voice. \nThere are also additional Rainbow events at the QAC Cultural Hub throughout the run of Belonging: \nSip and Learn!\nBring your friends and your questions! A 2SLGBTQIA+ info night to ask any of the questions you’ve been curious about! Accompanied by free mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails.) Wednesday June 10th\, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. \nReception\nA celebration of this year’s Rainbow exhibition. Artists\, friends\, family and all those interested are invited to come enjoy the exhibit and mingle before it’s gone! Wednesday June 24th\, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Scenic Detours is Oeno Gallery’s summer group show\, bringing together a diverse selection of works by gallery artists across painting\, sculpture\, glass\, and mixed media. Inspired by the spirit of exploration and the unexpected moments found along the way\, the exhibition reflects on landscape\, movement\, atmosphere\, and discovery through a wide range of artistic perspectives. \nFeaturing both new and recent works\, Scenic Detours invites visitors to experience a vibrant journey through colour\, texture\, and place during the summer season. \nThe exhibition pairs naturally with our 4-acre outdoor sculpture garden which is especially vibrant in the summer months with blooming gardens and newly installed works.
