DESCRIPTION:EARLY SUMMER SHOW – GALLERY 121 – JUNE 2nd– JULY 11th \nRECEPTION – JUNE 6th\, 2026 \nThe members of Gallery 121 are pleased to present their Early Summer Show\, showcasing Guest Artists Emóke Wilson\, Michael Amar and Featured Member Artist Cara Wilson. \nCara is a multi-dimensional artist\, whose primary medium is acrylic augmented with textural media and found objects. During her years as an international designer Cara absorbed a wide range of style influences and since retiring has embraced mixed media and is a creator of inspired landscape work. Cara has supported her development through local association memberships\, and her paintings have been exhibited widely in the region. \nEmóke Wilson claims that art has been her best friend since childhood. Today she is also a Mixed-Media Artist\, creating expressionistic\, exclusive one-of-a-kind 2D and 3D works that are captured in unconventional works using bold colours\, patterns and textures. \nMichael Amar is a well-known artist in the Hastings and Kingston areas where he has presented both solo and group shows\, including at the Parrott Gallery. Michael is a master of many mediums including\, but not limited to oil\, sculpting\, wood\, copper\, and inks.

During her years as an international designer Cara absorbed a wide range of style influences and since retiring has embraced mixed media and is a creator of inspired landscape work. Cara has supported her development through local association memberships\, and her paintings have been exhibited widely in the region. \nEmóke Wilson claims that art has been her best friend since childhood. Today she is also a Mixed-Media Artist\, creating expressionistic\, exclusive one-of-a-kind 2D and 3D works that are captured in unconventional works using bold colours\, patterns and textures. \nMichael Amar is a well-known artist in the Hastings and Kingston areas where he has presented both solo and group shows\, including at the Parrott Gallery. DESCRIPTION:Two centuries of history deserves more than a party- it deserves a full-scale celebration! \nJoin us as Macpherson House marks its 200th birthday with an afternoon packed with live entertainment\, hands-on activities\, music\, games\, and community fun for all ages. This is a FREE\, drop-in\, all-are-welcome event designed for families\, friends\, and curious visitors of every kind. \nAnother reason to celebrate is that this party marks the beginning of Macpherson House summer programming for 2026! \nFrom traditional Indigenous drumming and storytelling to high-energy roaming performers\, lawn games\, and creative stations\, the grounds and house will come alive with music\, movement\, and more! \nMark your calenders\, this is one party you won’t want to miss! \nWhat’s Happening:\nCelebrate with a full lineup of activities running throughout the day! The official opening kicks off at 11:00AM\, with the remainder of activities beginning at 11:30AM. \n\nOpening ceremony with Judii Merle\, featuring traditional drumming\, land acknowledgment\, and storytelling (11:00–11:20AM)\nSelf-guided exploration of Macpherson House\, including loom demonstrations\nLive music by Brad Gibson\nRoaming entertainment including a juggler and stilt walkers\nLawn games and outdoor activities\nCommunity art projects including Colour Me Groovy canvas painting and stick mandalas (while supplies last)\nFace painting ($5 per person)\nBirthday cupcakes available for purchase ($5 each\, while supplies last)\nL&A Libraries information table on-site\n\nBring your own lawn chair\, or a blanket to sit and enjoy the festivities. \nAccessible portable toilet will be on site.  \nChildren under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  \nNo pre-registration is required. A small parking lot is available on Elizabeth just across from the House. Street parking is encouraged.
