This two-part Tissue Paper Collage Art Lab takes place on Sunday\, February 15 and Sunday\, February 22\, from 1–4 pm in the inspiring space of These 4 Walls Gallery. \nPart One | Sunday\, February 15\nBegin by building your own inventory of handmade tissue paper collage papers (wet-grade). Through guided facilitation\, you’ll experiment with a wide variety of papers\, paints\, stencils\, mark-making tools\, and mixed media techniques to create rich\, expressive collage backgrounds. This session is all about exploration\, curiosity\, and discovering what happens when materials are layered without pressure or expectation. \nPart Two | Sunday\, February 22\nUsing the collage paper inventory you created\, you’ll move into building finished collage works on canvas board (you’re welcome to bring your own base as well). This session focuses on working loosely and intuitively\, embracing layers\, texture\, and mark making. Many artists struggle with letting go of control—this process is intentionally forgiving and low-pressure\, offering a safe space to practice working freely without commitment or perfectionism. \nYour completed pieces can be framed\, gifted\, or photographed and turned into custom greeting cards for friends and loved ones. The event is open to all genders\, reflecting our belief that meaningful progress is achieved through collective action. \nWe are excited to welcome the Quinte Cultural Innovation Committee (QCIC) as our partner for this year’s event. Grounded in sisterhood and a shared belief that women are the heart of thriving communities\, both BPW H&PE and the QCIC are committed to values-driven\, community-centred work. QCIC’s mandate\, centred on equity in education\, dignity in housing\, food security\, and reparative community events\, complements BPW H&PE’s leadership in advancing community-led solutions where women and future generations can flourish. \nOver the past three years\, this event has exceeded expectations in both attendance and impact. Elected officials from across Hastings and Prince Edward\, alongside community leaders and professionals from a wide range of sectors\, have joined us in celebration and dialogue. The enthusiasm and engagement of our attendees have underscored the importance of creating spaces that champion women’s leadership\, empowerment\, and inclusion. This year\, we are excited to build on that success with an even more engaging and meaningful experience. \nThis year’s event will be an evening of connection and celebration\, featuring a reception-style culinary experience with thoughtfully prepared bites\, including both plant-forward and classic selections. This intimate gathering showcases the raw talent and storytelling prowess of local songwriters\, where audiences can enjoy the unique experience of hearing songs performed by the very artists who penned them. With a tradition that prioritizes music and songwriting\, a writers’ round is a must-attend event for anyone seeking the authentic spirit of Nashville’s vibrant music scene. Discover the stories behind the songs in an environment that celebrates the art of songwriting. Charcuterie boards are available by pre-order only; be sure to add that to your seat purchases. Boards must be ordered 24 hours in advance. If you did not purchase with your tickets but would like to add one\, please do so by calling 613-242-5165. To ensure the success of this event AND to compensate the artists\, we have implemented a $10 minimum per person spend policy at the venue (in addition to the $10 cover charge). We recommend purchasing a charcuterie board for 2 at $35 and we have conveniently created a ticket add-on for you to choose. You can alternately call/text 613-242-5165. Here’s why this policy is necessary and how it benefits everyone: \nSupporting the Musicians: The cover charge collected at the door goes directly to the performers as their payment for sharing their art. Although a $10 cover charge does not pay them their worth\, it is an arrangement that they are comfortable with. \nVenue Sustainability: Hosting such events involves additional costs\, including staff\, setup\, and maintenance.
