The Christmas Belles

December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The Belles have performed on several stages in the Quinte Region over the past few years, this year, raising funds in support of HPE learning foundation’s “Have you Heard” campaign.

The group was formed during the COVID period, with a dream of creating their own Broadway show. Thanks to the creativity and direction of Caroline Smith, this dream came true. The Best of Broadway made its debut in the Spring of 2022 at Theatre in the Wings in Belleville to an adoring, sold out audience. This high-energy, 90 minute Broadway Revue is currently being performed around the region. In August, it was presented at the Marble Arts Centre in Tweed, and in early October, The Broadway Belles were seen at Westben in Campbellford.

In December of 2022, The Belles presented a new Christmas show, created once again by Caroline Smith. Initially, this wonderful show consisting of familiar holiday songs and personal stories debuted in small venues in the region. In December of 2023, this Christmas show was performed to three sold out audiences at Theatre in the Wings once again. Performances of this show have also raised hundreds of dollars for local charities, including Quinte Health Care.

So, who exactly are The Belles? This group may be relatively new, but Kim Dafoe, Anita Halfpenny, and Susan McCourt have a lot in common. During their careers as educators in our local school boards, all three women have valued and included music inside and outside of their classrooms. More importantly, these three performers possess a common passion for Musical Theatre, singing in harmony, creating characters on the stage, and collaborating on fun musical projects. In addition to their work as The Belles, Kim, Anita and Susan have performed 50s, 60s and 70s music in the band Deja Vu. They are so grateful for all of their supporters, and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
