Spring into Jazz – Dan Douglas and friends

Please join us for this one-time only concert – designed to put some Spring in your step – and some JAZZ in your Spring. DAN DOUGLAS and Friends – Michael Monis, Harry Ellis and Howard Rees are getting together for an evening of unforgetable music – and enjoy this unique musical experience – SPRING Into JAZZ.

Dan Douglas – trombone, has been working as a freelance performer since the age of 17. His early experiences had him playing with many of the great jazz masters and his traditional jazz band, the Dixie Demons will celebrate 40 years this year. Dan resides in Foxboro, is a member of the Quinte Symphony Orchestra and this year received a Quinte Arts Council Arts Recognition Award.

Michael Monis – guitar, is comfortable in any musical style, and and has actively performed for well over 30 years, Michael has toured extensively and worked both in studio and on stage with countless jazz greats from Moe Koffman to Jane Bunnett. Son of legendary guitar master Hank Monis, Michael currently resides in Millbrook, Ontario.

Harry Ellis – drums, has had a long and varied career playing with such artists as Helen Reddy, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Maria Muldaur, Tanya Tucker, Michelle Wright and Carol Baker. He has performed in jazz festivals in around the world with Milt Hinton, Buddy Tate, Warren Vache, Danny Moss and Roy WilliamsonPeter Appleyard, Norm Amadio, Frank Wright, Michael Stewart, Bobby Fenton, George Koller, Hilario Duran, Luis Mario Ochoa and Bill McBirnie to name a few. Harry now resides in Prince Edward County.

Howard Rees – bass, regularly performs on piano and bass with some of the area’s top musicians – and has performed with some of the greats in jazz including; Kenny Burrell, Jaki Byard, Ray Drummond, Slim Galliard, Barry Harris, Earl May, Charles McPherson, Akira Tana and Leroy Williams. Howard is an international teacher of jazz. His weekly zoom master class is attended by musicians iaround the globe. His Toronto based jazz workshop is now in its 39th year. He has founded the Belleville Jazz Festival, and established a jazz master class & jazz choir in Belleville.

PLEASE NOTE: Advance Tickets are available online only until midnight Thursday, May 30. Advance Tickets are not available on the day of the show. At-the-door Tickets are $30 (cash only).

The Bay of Quinte RMB Land Acknowledgement

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is committed to acknowledging, appreciating and understanding the Indigenous peoples’ historic connection to this land and to raising awareness by building relationships in collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities.

This partnership focuses on the common goal of celebrating the region with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka who are equal partners within the organization and at the Board of Directors table contributing to the mandate and operations.

This mandate includes listening to, learning from, and collaborating with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka and actively incorporating their culture and heritage into the practice of responsible destination marketing and management of the region.

We understand that this land acknowledgement is only a small step towards the larger process of reparations and reconciliation.
