Since 1994, the Quinte Arts Council (QAC) has celebrated the artists, arts leaders, organizations and community champions whose creativity, leadership and commitment strengthen the cultural life of the Quinte region through its annual Arts Recognition Awards.
On Thursday, September 24, the community will come together once again to recognize six outstanding 2026 recipients, each nominated by community members for artistic excellence, cultural leadership, and contributions to the arts.
Janice “Kahehtóktha” Brant — educator, multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, gardener and seed keeper whose art is deeply connected to place, people and the natural world.
Debra Vincent — artist, mentor and respected member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte whose leadership and creativity continue to strengthen our community.
Wendy May — the driving force behind the Loyalist Arts Experience, helping transform arts education at Loyalist College into a thriving cultural hub.
Carlotta Rutledge — actor, director, producer, costumer and volunteer whose extraordinary commitment has enriched community theatre for years.
Carl Wiens — internationally recognized illustrator, designer and artist who has made Belleville and the Quinte region his home while building a remarkable career spanning more than three decades.
Beautiful View Music Festival — founded by Hannah Georgas and Sean Sroka, bringing accessible, high-quality live music and an inclusive festival experience to our region.
