Join us for an evening of modal music presented by Nimble Ensemble (https://www.labyrinthontario.com/)

The Kafana is excited to provide this opportunity for the Belleville community to enjoy the unique experience of modal music here in the Quinte region. In an effort to create accessibility to this music, we have decided NOT to require a ticket purchase for this experience. However, we truly appreciate you contributing within your means, to ensure these fantastic musicians are compensate for the hard work learning this beautifully complicated musical tradition, and traveling to us here in Belleville. We suggest a sliding scale between $20-40 per person, but we encourage all those intrigued and interested to join us regardless of financial means.

You may include your contribution in advance with your RSVP here, or you may contribute on site during/after the performance via cash or credit/interac. All contributions go toward musician stipends and travel costs.

All seating is first-come/first-sit 😉

The Kafana bar and kitchen will be open for your snacking and drinking enjoyment during the performance.

The Bay of Quinte RMB Land Acknowledgement

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is committed to acknowledging, appreciating and understanding the Indigenous peoples’ historic connection to this land and to raising awareness by building relationships in collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities.

We recognize and acknowledge that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Wendat, Mississauga, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee which includes the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte) with whom we work in direct partnership with.

This partnership focuses on the common goal of celebrating the region with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka who are equal partners within the organization and at the Board of Directors table contributing to the mandate and operations.

This mandate includes listening to, learning from, and collaborating with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka and actively incorporating their culture and heritage into the practice of responsible destination marketing and management of the region.

We understand that this land acknowledgement is only a small step towards the larger process of reparations and reconciliation.
