GALLERY 121 PRESENT THEIR EARLY SPRING SHOW, March 12th – April 20th

Our Guest Artist is Lynne Vegter. Her life-like oil paintings are transportive; often taking you to her cabin studio on Lake Waslekoon where she spends much of her time painting and taking photos that capture the wildlife, and glistening lake surroundings. Lynne comes to us from the Bancroft area where she has been involved with several galleries as well as teaching classes and participating in lobbying activities to benefit both the wildlife and environment.

Our Featured Member Artist is Larraine Milligan. Larraine is a new member to 121, but she is far from new to the art world. As a member on the board of Theatre on the Wings and a prolific artist, she has shown in a variety of different venues. She describes her art in in four words: female figure, narrative, and line. Paintings consisting of one or several of: cold wax, original charcoal lines and oil, challenge the viewer to decide on the narrative beneath her female figure’s presentation.

A wonderful show. Please join us for our opening reception March 16th, 2-4 p.m.

The Bay of Quinte RMB Land Acknowledgement

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is committed to acknowledging, appreciating and understanding the Indigenous peoples’ historic connection to this land and to raising awareness by building relationships in collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities.

We recognize and acknowledge that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Wendat, Mississauga, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee which includes the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte) with whom we work in direct partnership with.

This partnership focuses on the common goal of celebrating the region with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka who are equal partners within the organization and at the Board of Directors table contributing to the mandate and operations.

This mandate includes listening to, learning from, and collaborating with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka and actively incorporating their culture and heritage into the practice of responsible destination marketing and management of the region.

We understand that this land acknowledgement is only a small step towards the larger process of reparations and reconciliation.
