Behind the Blooms: Designs by Alexis Rose

BEHIND THE BLOOMS: DESIGNS BY ALEXIS ROSE

Alexis Rose got her start in her mom’s flower shop as a teenager, and she’s been arranging ever since. After moving to the Bay of Quinte, she turned her love of florals into a full-time business, mixing bold blooms with personal touches and building community while she’s at it.

Floral design is an art, and it is incredibly personal for Alexis Rose. Her journey started in her teen years when she worked at her mother’s flower shop. She had to close her shop at the end of 2019, and Alexis knew then she didn’t want to let go of the beauty and creativity that came with floral design. After moving to the Bay of Quinte region when her husband was posted to CFB Trenton, she took a leap of faith by launching her own business and focusing more on weddings and events, balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship from home. More recently, she expanded to open a brick-and-mortar shop in Quinte West where she sells other locally-made products and hosts floral workshops.

Her floral design style is bright, whimsical and full of life, staying true to her voice and personal touch, which makes her work even more authentic and reflective of her brand. Alexis takes pride in working with the local Ontario flower farmers who produce incredible blooms. This region has some of the most stunning venues for weddings and events, such as Venue 1906, The Meadows and Occasions by the Bay, or The CAPE and The Eddie in adjacent Prince Edward County. She is inspired by the natural beauty of the Bay of Quinte and blends it seamlessly with her designs, enhancing the experience for the couples and their guests.

For Alexis, floral design is much more than just arranging flowers, it is about telling a story, an emotional connection. Her favourite moments are those where she had to create florals that meant something personal to her clients. One time, a bride requested extra flowers in her bouquet so she could take them out of it while she was walking down the aisle to hand them to the special women in her life—a small but deeply meaningful gesture.

Another unforgettable wedding for her was a very intimate micro-wedding, held at Venue 1906, where jewel tones came together in a beautifully muted yet rich palette. Where each detail felt like it belonged in a magazine. These events are what make her work fulfilling, helping people bring their visions to life in a way that feels authentic and special to them.

Running a floral business isn’t just about flowers for Alexis, it is about community and collaboration. Local businesses like Your Creative Junction, Bare Beauty Collab, Ma’s Pantry, The Salon, and Emma’s Bridal Boutique play an essential role in creating a strong support network for her within the region.

The Bay of Quinte region is more than just a beautiful landscape, it’s a thriving hub for small business owners, local artisans and endless opportunities. Since moving here, Alexis’ business blossomed into something bigger than she ever imagined, where creativity, nature, and community come together in perfect harmony.
