Trick or Truth?

October 31 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

$5 – $8

It’s the season of trick-or-treating, and it looks like our Arctic animals choose tricks! Join us at the Quinte Museum of Natural History, 10 am – 5 pm on October 31st for a frightfully fun (and educational!) Halloween Saturday. Kids will get the chance to figure out whether the facts left by our Arctic creatures about themselves are true, or if they’re trying to play a Halloween trick. Completed truth or trick sheets will earn you a spooky-sweet Halloween treat!

Our museum will be open as usual Halloween weekend, so alongside our Halloween activity, you’re welcome to explore all of our regular exhibits at your own leisure. Our creepy-but-cool casts of dinosaurs and ancient whales are always a spooky-season hit. We know how busy Halloween gets, especially being on the weekend, so we appreciate you taking the time to celebrate with us

This event is open to all ages; however, please note that children must be able to read our panels to identify what is true or false on their sheet, or be accompanied by someone who can assist them.

Please note: Costumes are allowed for our Halloween event, but are not required to participate. Fake weapons, blood, makeup in easy-to-smear places, and large costume pieces may not be permitted. We prioritize keeping our displays safe, and we may deny costumes at our staff’s discretion. We politely ask that blow-up costumes also be avoided. While you may see volunteers in inflatable costumes that day, they have been properly trained to avoid our precious specimens.

The Bay of Quinte RMB Land Acknowledgement

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is committed to acknowledging, appreciating and understanding the Indigenous Peoples’ historic connection to this land and to raising awareness by building relationships in collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities.

We recognize and acknowledge that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Wendat, Mississaugas, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee which includes the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte) with whom we work in direct partnership with.

This partnership focuses on the common goal of celebrating the region with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka who are equal partners within the organization and at the Board of Directors table contributing to the mandate and operations.

This mandate includes listening to, learning from, and collaborating with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka and actively incorporating their culture and heritage into the practice of responsible destination marketing and management of the region.

We understand that this land acknowledgement is only a small step towards the larger process of reparations and reconciliation.
