Get out of the house and hit the road as we tour around the BoQ from Brighton to Napanee. We’re here to help get you acquainted with our art and culture scene by visiting galleries, artist studios, performance venues and public art displays.

BRIGHTON

Casey’s Lane Mural

Painted by local artist Des Rodrigues, the 56’ wide mural pays homage to multi-generational victims of the residential school system. It can be found in Casey’s Lane, which runs between the Brighton Dental Centre and The Dollar Choice on Main Street.

Firing Time Pottery

The bright and cheery storefront of Firing Time features an array of ceramic pieces. If you want to get your hands dirty and try something new, sign up for one of Melanie’s pottery classes.

This quaint Main Street gallery run by local artist Andrew Hamilton has a range of pieces from landscapes and still life paintings to jewellery and sculptures.

Old Church Theatre

This intimate performance venue in (you guessed it) an old rural church hosts a variety of musicians, comedians and alternative theatre performances. Check out their website to see their upcoming summer patio series lineup.

These 4 Walls

These 4 Walls is a unique space in Downtown Trenton that doubles as an art gallery and bistro. Stop in for a glass of wine or craft beer while you check out their latest show.

Catch a Show

Got a love for the theatre? See what’s in the works for Belleville’s local theatre groups: The Belleville Theatre Guild at the Pinnacle Playhouse and River and Main Theatre Company at Theatre in the Wings.

The Belleville Gallery District

Downtown Belleville

You could spend a whole day strolling through the galleries in Downtown Belleville! The Parrott Gallery, Gallery 121, Quinte Arts Council and the Belleville Art Association are all within a close walking distance. If you need a lunch break, take your pick from several nearby cafes and restaurants.

Erin and Jesus Estevez create unique jewellery with sterling silver, stones and crystals. In addition to the jewellery in their storefront, you can browse through Jesus’ oil paintings–many of which are familiar Belleville scenes.

Eagle POD Gallery

David Maracle’s micro-gallery on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory is home to his one-of-a-kind stone carvings. He is also a busy, award-winning musician, so make sure to email to set up an appointment to view the gallery!

Native Renaissance

This art gallery showcases a wide variety of artwork created by well-known Indigenous artists, including the prolific work of Thomas B. Maracle, whose creations in stone, wood, and corn husks are prized components of collections throughout Canada and many other parts of the world.

Rebecca Maracle

Rebecca Maracle is a Mohawk Feathersmith, Traditional Medicine Healer and member of the Haudenosaunee in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Stop by her studio to see her stunning jewellery, dream catchers, drums, wall hangings and other hand-crafted items.

GREATER NAPANEE

Museum of Lennox and Addington

Explore life throughout different eras in L&A as well as see unique travelling and rotating exhibits that highlight a variety of different themes. See what’s on at countymuseum.ca.

“Pallet”able

A drive around Napanee will reveal several vibrant pieces of street art painted on wooden pallets. The pallets feature work from several local artists and are installed in public spaces to brighten the community year-round.

Painted Silos at L&A Mutual Insurance

The two silos behind L&A Mutual Insurance Company’s head office provided the perfect canvas for Shane Goudreau’s 90′ tall agriculture-themed mural, honouring the region’s rural roots.

The Bay of Quinte RMB Land Acknowledgement

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is committed to acknowledging, appreciating and understanding the Indigenous peoples’ historic connection to this land and to raising awareness by building relationships in collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities. 

We recognize and acknowledge that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Wendat, Mississauga, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee which includes the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte) with whom we work in direct partnership with. 

This partnership focuses on the common goal of celebrating the region with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka who are equal partners within the organization and at the Board of Directors table contributing to the mandate and operations.

This mandate includes listening to, learning from, and collaborating with the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehá:ka and actively incorporating their culture and heritage into the practice of responsible destination marketing and management of the region.

We understand that this land acknowledgement is only a small step towards the larger process of reparations and reconciliation.
