An interview with Andrew and Monique Guthrie of Park Road Design & Build in Brighton.
We are a small design and build company based out of Brighton, Ontario with a focus on large renovations, additions and custom homes. We offer a variety of services including concept designs, permit drawings, interior design drawings/sourcing and general contracting. At PRD, our main outlook for each project is to ensure our client’s ideas and thoughts are heard and to provide continual guidance through the entire project. As a company, we strive for three main goals: honesty, quality and attention to detail.
We were given the opportunity to build a home for a client on the Bay of Quinte and at that time we were living in Mississauga. Once we started working in the area, we truly fell in love with the lifestyle and pace of living. We were wanting to start a family and thought it would be a great place to plant roots. Since we have moved back in May 2021 it has not disappointed!
One of the hardest parts of starting/owning a small business is wearing many hats. You are constantly shifting gears and multi-tasking, which is one of our favourite parts as you are always doing something new, but it doesn’t come without challenges.
With many people moving east of the GTA, it has allowed for our type of business to grow as many new homeowners and business owners are looking for design and build services.
It’s never too late to start! Find what you’re passionate about, take a risk and enjoy the ride.
One of our favourite things to do is take our kiddos and dog ‘Gus the Bus’ down to Presqu’ile Provincial Park for a walk and enjoy the views of the water. Another thing we love to do is support our local markets like Cheer Farms in Brighton and Fawn Over Market in Quinte West.
August 21, 2022 – we welcomed our beautiful twins Abby and Brooks on this date and they are absolutely the joy of our lives.
