Celebrate the Quinte region’s ethnic diversity. Belleville’s 31st Waterfront and Ethnic Festival takes place Thursday to Sunday, July 9-12. Admission is free and event parking is $3.
We’ve done a little bit of reconnaissance, and picked out ten exciting activities and events you won’t want to miss at this year’s festival:
Visitors can see a spectacular dinosaur on Sunday, July 12. At over eight feet tall and 16 feet long, this T-Rex will stroll around the Children’s Village. Stay for dinosaur themed crafts, too.
This activity on Thursday, July 9 lets you buckle up and propel 75 feet down a secure track from 36 feet up. The ultimate rush for tweens, teens and adults.
3. Ethnic Food Village:
Fabulous multicultural treats await guests all four days of the festival. Foods from Italy, Romania, India, Barbados, Greece, Poland, Mexico, Portugal, and Tibet will be available for sampling.
4. Main Stage:
Entertainers will please many musical tastes. Catch shows from headliners like Bishop Soul, Donna Huber & Adam Tucker as Shania Twin and Tim McGraw, as well as Photograph and Treble Charger.
First Nations musical artist David Maracle’s albums have gone gold and he has won many music awards. He performs July 9. On the 11th The Tartan Terrors bring a unique blend of Celtic music, comedy and dance to the stage.
6. Meet & Greets with children’s characters:
All weekend your kids can meet and be photographed with familiar favourites including The Moblees, Superhero Sunday and Celebrate Pets Saturday.
Experience Stand Up Paddleboarding on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The sport is easy to learn and accessible to all levels and ages.
Give parasailing a try Friday through Sunday. Soar over the beautiful Bay of Quinte. The parasail winch boat lets you take off and land from the back of the boat without getting wet.
9. Family Fishing:
July 10-11 is Family Fishing Weekend. No licence necessary for this Friday-Saturday event and all supplies are provided. Meet at the causeway on the bay side of the Festival grounds.
These activities Friday to Sunday combine physics with sports for a fun experience.
